Nancy Ashby, Nurse Practitioner

Nancy Ashby is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. A native of Arizona, she graduated from Glendale Community College with her Associates of Applied Science, nursing degree. While starting her nursing career, she immediately returned to Grand Canyon University to complete her Bachelor of Science, nursing degree-completing with honors.

During her career as an RN, Nancy worked at several local hospitals around the valley, in specialties ranging from cardiovascular units to procedural and surgical units. She has also served as a Clinical Adjunct Instructor to new nursing students at Grand Canyon University.

Expanding Experience and Continuing Education

She always knew from the beginning of her nursing career that she wanted to continue with her education to become a Nurse Practitioner. Having a husband with Diabetes and seeing the pitfalls in the prevention and management of chronic diseases pushed Nancy to want to do more for her patients. Additionally, she is very passionate about the health disparities around the world and wanted to make a bigger impact by participating in medical missions with a greater scope of practice. To pursue these passions further, she graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2018 with her Master of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner degree-again completing with honors.

Her training and experience as a nurse practitioner has primarily been in internal medicine and orthopedics. Her specialty is treatment of chronic disease states and the prevention of them. She loves to counsel patients on lifestyle changes, risk factor modification and early detection of disease through routine medical screenings. She also enjoys the diagnosis and treatment recommendations of orthopedic conditions. On the days she is not in the office you will find her working as a primary care provider.

Outside of the Office

Also, outside of the office, she is a busy mother to 3 young children-11, 9, and 7 years old. She spends much of her time away from the office trying to wrangle this rowdy bunch and manage a large household. Nancy spends her weekends with her family and attending church service. She is actively involved in her church, serving as a children’s ministry pastoral assistant.
