YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
HATHA YOGA
Hatha yoga or the "physical yoga" is a system rich with the history of the East. Yoga is a discipline that promotes healing through the use of the breath and postures. Hatha Yoga improves strength, flexibility, and balance while creating an inner peace and harmony. At Olson, our highly trained teachers lead a variety of classes suitable for students of all ages and levels.
BASIC / LEVEL ONE
This class is designed for the beginning and continuing student. Basic postures, breath work and the fundamentals of alignment are introduced with an emphasis on building strength and understanding.
LEVEL ONE / TWO
Level One / Two will continue with an emphasis on alignment as well as introduce inversions and more advanced postures. It is recommended for the stronger student who has experience is the Basic class and is interested in refining poses and building endurance.
ALL LEVELS
This class is open to everyone. It may include poses from Level Two, however, modifications and alternative postures will always be offered.
FLOW
Flow is an energizing series of poses known as vinyasa, designed to strengthen the connection between mind and body by linking the breath to movement. This class is for the student who is looking for a somewhat more vigorous practice. We recommend a basic understanding of alignment principles and for the student to be injury free.
INDIVIDUAL YOGA SESSION
During this safe one-on-one session the yoga therapist facilitates the client through assisted yoga postures and the use of the breath. This non-directive therapy increases awareness, promotes flexibility and reduces stress within the body, mind and spirit. Yoga Therapy supports individuals in connecting with their inner voice. No previous yoga experience required. During an individual session, a client can learn the basic fundamentals of hatha yoga, deepen one's understanding of their current practice or address specific health issues by applying the Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment.
PARTNER YOGA
The support and assistance of a trusted partner allows one to move deeper into the ancient practice of yoga. Together we will create an environment filled with joy, sensitivity and harmony. This is a great opportunity to introduce yoga to someone special in your life as no other yoga experience is necessary.

YOGA TIPS
- Please consult with your doctor before undertaking any physical activity.
- Wear comfortable and loose fitting clothes and remove your socks. Feeling the ground beneath you is an important element of one's yoga practice.
- Wait at least 1-2 hours after eating before beginning the practice.
- Be prompt for class.
- Turn off your cell phone.
- If you are a smoker please do not smoke before class. (Many students have allergies.)
- Please do not wear fragrance. (Many students have allergies)
- Please share with your instructor any physical injuries, recent surgeries, chronic pain, or pregnancy.
- If at any time during the practice you feel any pain, release your position regardless what the other students are doing. A component of yoga is becoming aware of the messages of your own body. You alone are the best judge of what is good for your body.
- Become aware of your breath and let your breath be a guide. Often your breath will tell you if you are working too hard. Do not hold your breath as it causes stress and tension to build.
- Please tell your instructor of any concerns you may be feeling at the onset of the sessions and as you progress.
- Please allow yourself to have an open heart and mind as we work together. Yoga is more than the practice of the physical postures (asanas). It is the act of looking inward, reflection and finding peace. Many people have found that the practice of yoga is a reflection of how one perceives the world and moves through life's journey.
