THE PILATES METHOD

The Pilates method was developed in the 1920's by the legendary trainer and founder Joseph H Pilates. Mr. Pilates designed more than 500 specific exercises using unique pieces of equipment to develop the body uniformly. The Pilates system is designed to work the body as a whole, co-coordinating the upper and lower muscles of the body using spring resistance

The Pilate’s method of conditioning develops:

  • Long, lean muscle
  • Functional strength, stability & flexibility
  • Injury Prevention
  • Improve sports performance
  • Increase Vitality and Circulation
  • Overall conditioning

Erica-Kristin Zappettini
Erica has been in the fitness industry for six years studying extensively in Pilates, injury prevention, functional strength and flexibility training. Erica’s style teaches a contemporary approach to the mind-body system of exercise developed by Joseph H. Pilates over 80 years ago. Erica educates in functional strength, flexibility, and injury prevention while incorporating modifications for clients with special needs regardless of fitness level, age, gender, previous injuries, or physical limitations. Pilates can be challenging enough for the professional athlete yet gentle enough for the rehabilitation client.

Erica currently teaches individual sessions on the reformer, cadillac and split chair as well as providing on-site Mat-Pilate, Yoga and BOSU workshops for large and small groups.

  • Individual Pilates Training
All sessions are catered to each individual’s needs and personal goals to create a Pilates workout exclusively for the client. All exercises and sessions are performed on the reformer, cadillac, and split chair using spring resistance.
  • Pilates for Golf Conditioning
The Pilates for Golf program is based on the concept of building strength while simultaneously increasing stability, flexibility balance and core control: all the elements proven to be essential for a great swing. All exercises are performed on the reformer, cadillac and split chair using spring resistance.
  • On-Site Mat Pilate, BOSU, and Yoga workshops for large and small groups

    1. Mat Pilates is a mat based class that focuses specifically on the core using gravity and the body’s own resistance. This is a non-impact, non-weight bearing exercise developing strength and flexibility without building bulky muscles. Flowing movement helps improve posture, increase freedom of movement and reduce physical tension.
    2. BOSU Integrated Balance Training
Balance and body equilibrium are the keys to effective movement and sports performance. The BOSU Balance Trainer program is a modular training system that helps improve proprioception and balance within every component of fitness. In this workshop, you’ll learn exercises and movement patterns that will challenge your balance during cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training. Each training module integrates balance, stability and body awareness for total body, functional fitness.
    3. Yoga
Yoga, from the Sanskirt word meaning union, is a 5,000-year-old Eastern philosophy, which incorporates the mind and body in a mutually supportive relationship. Westerners are most familiar with its fitness components but may not realize yoga weaves fitness, wellness and a deep sense of consciousness together. Enthusiasts practice various yoga traditions, all of which combine forms of breathing, posture and exercise. The physical exercises called, “asanas” (postures). These are isometric moves, which stretch and tone muscles. Similar to weight lifting, yoga strengthens muscles by incorporating resistant weight-bearing exercise using the body’s own weight as the resistance. While all yoga traditions employ variations of asanas, each type offers different fitness benefits and wellness goals.
